Re-Focusing Interpreting Assessment: Meaning-Based Interpreting (B. Winston, 2021)
ABSTRACT: Re-Focusing Interpreting Assessment in the US: Meaning-Based Interpreting
Assessing meaning-based interpreting requires an understanding of the complex factors that impact first, communication, and second, the interpretation of it. Such assessment extends far beyond simple miscue analysis, vocabulary corrections, and language lessons.
The TIEM Assessment Project has gathered and studied assessment rubrics from national and international assessment groups, both deaf and hearing, and for signed and spoken language interpreting. We invite any group or individual to learn more about it, send us questions, and try it out! We are also available to help train you and/or your organization in its applications.
